Item Rules and Guidelines

Illegal Properties
All of the following properties are defined as strictly illegal. Under no circumstances should they appear on any item, whether it be for PCs or for monsters. If you wish your monster to have an equivalent ability to one of those listed, add it to their properties or their skin, not to their items.

- Immunities (Exception: Single Spell Immunity. "Immunity: Mind Affecting Spells" is illegal. "Immunity: Specific Spell: Fear" is legal, but limited to one immunity per item.)
- Permanent True Sight or Unlimited Use/Day True Sight.
- Hide in Plain Sight
- Permanent Haste or Unlimited Use/Day Haste.
- Melee Damage Resistance on a quickslottable item (Should be on armour only, not on belts, gloves, etc.)
- "Use Magic Device" bonuses on items that are not Rogue Only or Bard Only.
- Items with more than +20 in total skill bonuses.
- Items with no descriptions.

Strongly Discouraged/Quest Reward ONLY
The following items are not considered "illegal" in the strictest sense, but are not encouraged. They should not be built into area shops or spawns. They may be allowed on a case-by-case basis as Quest Rewards for lengthy, difficult and involved quests.

- Unlimited Use/Day Spell Items
(Within common sense. "Light Unlimited/Day" is fairly easily obtained. "Wail of the Banshee Unlimited/Day" will make OrchestralDarkness laugh at you.)
- Items with Greater Than +5 Bonuses to: Attack, Enhancement, Armour Class and Statistics.

Other Notes
Use COMMON SENSE (everyone has it) when you're making your items. Why are those boots giving you a +6 skill bonus to opening locks? Are you opening locks with your feet?
